Universal Tracking and Tuning System for Amateur Radio Satellites.
This picture shows the internal view of the hardware portion of the project.
Specifications:
Dimensions
The Uni_Trac 2003 is fully enclosed in a metal box and has the following overall dimensions, 124x58x30 mm (4.88x2.28x1.19 inch) approx.
Power requirements
Power supply requirements are nominally 12Vdc at 100 m/a, this could be up to 200 m/a if any load is placed on the +5Vdc reference pin of the control port, an internal auto re-settable current limiter is employed to offer some protection to the unit.
Computer
Runs on any PC or laptop that have a Com port, from 486 100MHz upwards using Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows 98SE, NT4 (sp3 and above), Windows 2000, Windows Millennium and Windows XP. A USB port may be used via a USB to serial adaptor (optional/User supplied) Windows 98 or later usually required.
Radio equipment
The units control port supports up to two RS232 and two TTL level digitally controlled radio equipment attached at any one time... see Radio List. However as four radio’s may be phisically attached to the Uni_Trac box only one or two of them may be controlled at any one time
Supported Radio List Download 18k pdf file.
External Control Port
Two ECP port pins are provided for external control of other equipment at TTL level (may be user modified for open collector operation), the sense of these ports can be inverted in the software.
Rotators
The standard Yaesu and Kenpro G-5400 G-5600 controllers are supported by default as is the Yaesu G-5500 series which incorporates the 450 degree azimuth unit. The 450 degree span is fully utilized by Uni_Trac. Some models of the EVOMOTOR series are directly supported. With a source of 0 to 5 Vdc (Azimuth & Elevation feedback), representing the angular position of the rotator, the hardware and its associated software can interface to any rotational system.
Software Updating
Free software updates will be available on this site as they are released. Please see our DOWNLOADS page.
The Uni_Trac 2003 hardware employs Advanced Microprocessor control and is fully assembled and tested prior to dispatch.
